Work on Your Profiles in the CMS

Hello Students:

Let me try to send this again.

I'd like to ask you all to take a look at the profiles you put up on Thursday. I want you to look at them today (if possible), and I will watch your progress and help you with these if I can.

Please EDIT your profile (first login at www.writingexperience.org) and let's try to standardize our format now. I have turned on a border for each image you put in (it will put the box around the image for you) and I have set the margin so that your text does not touch your photo. I made these changes global, so you won't have to.

Success in the Second Week

Posted by Anonymous on Thu, 05/08/2008 - 13:53

The first two days at my site this week consisted of writing more States pieces. Writing them does get slightly tedious, but it ends up being interesting because in my research I find out about some great places! Maybe I'll visit some of them one day. It also ends up being exciting because when I get each one finished I have such a sense of accomplishment. I know that Matt goes in and tweaks them to be perfect so the finished product that gets into the magazine isn't exactly all mine, but he says that he doesn't have to change much because I'm doing really well.

In this project, students work in groups, visit and interview local writers to get their first-hand views of the working lives of professional writers in West Michigan. Before reading the book, you might want to know what students found through their fieldwork:

New to Interning

My first week of interning has been exciting. I won't lie, I started out being a little nervous. I was nervous that my supervisor would regret choosing me because he wouldn't like my work. I was nervous that I would have no idea what I was doing. I was nervous that I would be exposed as a fraud! Until I reminded myself that I'm not a fraud. I really am a writer. And above all else, I truly am capable. So I went forward, and convinced myself that I'm a pro. So far it's working out pretty well.

Internships in Writing

WRT 490, Writing Internship, is a supervised work experience in an area of a student's potential career interest. It is usually initiated by the student who plans the work experience with the internship coordinator to supervise the internship and the supervisor at the worksite. Credit is awarded only when the student, the internship coordinator, and the work supervisor, have completed evaluations of the internship.
