Writing Center Freelance Project
I am officially burned out on blogging about my internship that ended in mid August. I really can't think of anything else to say! And so, for now on I am going to discuss my on-going freelance project with the writing center if that is okay (at least in the blog).
The project started in June, maybe even May, and I am still doing work on it when I have a spare moment. The Frederick Meijer Writing Center on campus got grant money to create writing genre guides. The project is headed by Ellen Schendel, who has been great to work with. Ellen and several students interviewed professors from many different genres and then created the copy for the guides. I then format the copy and design the document in InDesign (with much feedback and rounds of edits from the group).
We are still adding student sample papers, and new genres as well. And we have been getting a lot of good feedback, which is awesome. This blog doesn't seem to be letting me post a link but you can see the guides at the writing center website under "handouts and other resources" and then "writing in your major."
This project has been a great experience for me in many ways. I will elaborate in further posts!
