The Big Project
Our Superintendent would like for us to start a new project, and asked my supervisor to organize it. My supervisor emails me and asks if I would like to take on this new project, thus, take care of the organizing. Of course, I said yes. So, what is the project? Well the project is a video tribute personalized for each GRPS high school that will be aired at graduation for the Class of 2010. The video will capture highlights from the school year and events, photos of the students,
On Wednesday, I met with my supervisor and another member who will be taking care of the video footage and editing. We outlined a design of the video and decided that it should open as a yearbook. There will be messages from the Superintendent, principals, teachers, and maybe parents. In addition, we will interview students asking them questions.
These questions will include (possible to change):
1. What was your favorite memory of the school year?
2. What would you like to tell your principal? (hoping to get laughter here)
3. What advice do you have for upcoming seniors?
4. What was your favorite subject? Or favorite teacher?
5. What have you learned from your high school experience?
I sent out an email (from my supervisor) to each of the principals in order to set up a meeting to discuss the video tribute and set up dates to come to the schools to get footage and talk with the seniors. Each principal will have to respond by the end of November (I'm sure I will be making follow-up calls).
At the meeting, we have requested for the following participants to be present:
- Teacher
- 2010 Class President (or designee)
- A parent (if possible)
- A non-teacher staff member
- A student from Yearbook (assuming you have a team working on the school yearbook)
- Another student or students
This project will be going on after our semester ends, so I will be interning with GRPS in the winter to help finish it. I know that my main focus is not video; however, I am excited to work on this. I will ask for the next semester if I can also take complete control over the E-newsletters.
