MSO in Full Swing

One might think that two weeks without class would allow lots of down time. This is not the case for me. Science Olympiad (SO) is this Saturday. I will be working a twelve-hour shift (all overtime) and be back in on Monday to work my regular work week.

One of my projects has been to update the look of the SO forms. I thought I was doing a pretty good job. Generally I work on one group of documents at a time. When I started gathering them up I realized that while I was giving the same basic look to all the documents, the font face was not the same. Hmmm, I will need to fix this, but for now they will have to do. It's likely no one else would even notice, but I want them right.

Our documents are in several different programs right now, some of which I am the only one who really knows the package. I am hoping to convert everything over to programs that are universally used in the office so anyone can step in and help out. The other big project is to get all the databases into Access. I won't have time to do this before semester end; however, I have learned some of the reasons why things were done the way they were by the former co-director. This year, although a bit stressful, has been a good experience for all as we are handing over the baton from one group to the next.

I also have another major project right on the heels of SO. The Michigan High School Math and Science Symposium is scheduled for April 30th. I was getting a bit depressed as no one had registered as of Friday. I was quite surprised Monday morning when I did a quick check. I was expecting to find nothing and there are now about 20 applicants to present and 20 to observe. The program will run.

I was mostly worried because the abstract and program book from this program were to be one of the major highlights for my protfolio. Whew! Now I just have to get busy with my cover letter and interview.
