Hmmm...not having internet...not my favorite thing...

So the internet at Stone House is currently down, (it has been for about a week...sometime about a confused server...yeah). Anyway, at first I really didn't think that it was going to bother me that much. Most of the documents I am working on are already on my computer, and I can create everything right from my own work space. I was so wrong.

I never realized how annoying it is to not be able to check e-mail...return e-mail...or check things on the Stone House website and facebook page while I am actually in the studio. Pete will send me e-mails that i need to be able to open in the studio and I can't. OH my goodness! I mean, I write notes to myself about the things that I need to do when I got home and have internet available, but it's not the same. I feel like I lose some of the momentum that I would have had by doing it right when I thought about it.

I write newsletters while I am in the studio. I write them there because the action is happening right then, I can get all the names of everyone involved--I'm just more inspired to write in the moment. The only problem is that I can't post anything or get any of the information I might need from the website or the facebook page. This probably sounds like it's not that big of a deal...but I assure you it is.

It's hard to double check my facts when I can't get to the information, and I don't want to be interrupting a session 20 times just to ask simple questions. I also can't get certain pictures I need from the website for formatting the brochure and the business cards (since both of them use pictures from the website and facebook page.

So basically, I have been doing a lot of work at home this week, which really isn't that much different from before. In the studio I have been working more on the text and the formatting of the text, and then working on the design more at home. It's not terrible...just wish I could do everything right when I want to do it...when I am in that certain writing mode. I guess it is probably the a lot more frustrating for Pete because he isn't able to open and answer his e-mails in the timely fashion that he is used too, so it's throwing his schedule off a bit. I guess I just never realized how much I rely on being able to utilize the internet at work.

I also have to work on a few new business card designs. I haven't created one yet that Pete is really happy with. There are three different designs right now. I'm going to take the one that I feel he is most happy with and spend the better part of my time at Stone House tomorrow really working with it, and probably a lot of time this weekend as well. I really don't mind doing a lot of work outside of the studio. With a job like this the schedule is never set, so you just have to get used to weird hours.

I am still really enjoying Stone House though, as much as the internet thing is really bugging me out. It's not so bad I guess. At the very least it's taught me a lot about making sure I have everything I need to have in order to be prepared for the days tasks, since I have to have everything before I go in to the studio.

Next week is going to be extremely busy at the studio. A few different bands will be in, and I have to finalize at least one of these projects (probably the business card). I'll let you know how it goes!
