Heavy metal: chello style

This week I wrote a short article about a concert that the Indigo Girls will be performing in July. I hadn't listened to them before so I spent some time researching them, figuring out what genre (folk), their general sound, how many albums, best known songs, etc. They definitely have a unique sound.

And, when another intern was talking about his article that he was writing on Smashing Pumpkins coming to town, the entire office started discussing what bands they'd be willing to pay $20 to go see. After hearing Backstreet Boys, and Linkin Park listed, Brian (the publisher) meandered over the the corner I've come to think of as mine and asked what bands I wanted to see. Currently, top of my list is Apocalyptica. (I have a love for obscure bands with great music). This of course lead to YouTube clips being looked up. And so the office was filled with the sounds of Metallica on chellos being played to the applause of their body-surfing Danish audience.

We also got started on August listings. I found a couple of cool events in the works: a couple of cool art exhibits, book signings, and some book discussions.
