Finding my way
So the July issue of Revue is out. Sadly, none of the articles that i worked on for this month's issue made the final cut. I did however, spend some time proofing the articles that are there, and I have listings that I posted to the web. I also got started on several article for the August issue, so hopefully I have some stuff in there.
This week was distribution, so on Tuesday, Anna (another intern) and I headed off to have an adventure. First. we had to go to the storage spot where the magazines get delivered. Three cars full of interns and no one knew the exact password to get into the parking lot. After a few minutes a truck driver took pity on us and let us into the lot. We loaded up the cars, and then discovered that the GPS wasn't charged...which wouldn't be a problem if my cigarette lighter didn't have a blown fuse. While we had already printed out the route once we were in Muskegon, we didn't have directions exactly to where we were headed. Having gone on enough road trips, and have a sense of adventure, Anna and I decided to wing it. We found our way to Muskegon and our first drop off spot without any problems. Once we were actually in Muskegon, things became a little trickier.
I don't know who's been to Muskegon/lives there, but let me just state that their street signs are terrible. They are horribly faded, and stuck in the mnost oddball spots imaginable. Also, there are some creepy-ass bars there. Seriously, some are so scary that both Anna and I went in together for fear we wouldn't come back out alive. And the streets have a strange layout. If you feel like you're driving in circles there, its because you are.
Really though, we didn't get horribly lost, and we got done with our 20-some stop route in 6 hours including drive time to and from Muskegon. The weather was gorgeous, and we got excited any time we caught a glimpse of the lake.
Definitely an adventuresome week.
