Crunch Time

This week was extremely busy and productive. Some of that probably had something to do with not having a meeting for a lot longer than usual because of spring break. There was a short meeting last Thursday where a few articles were handed over for editing; a much longer meeting was planned out for this past Monday to schedule out the rest of the semester.

We did a layout outline for the entire magazine and outlined all the new articles that will be written as well as what revisions need to be made to old articles, things like getting quotes from students who haven’t graduated by now and fact checking. It was a bit like what we did at the beginning but more detailed now that we know exactly what we do and don’t want to include. The biggest new idea from the meeting that seemed pretty interesting to me was to include four page inserts into the guides of transfer students, that way not only can a lot more information specifically targeting them be included without having to sacrifice actual page space, but it’ll also save on printing costs since there are fewer transfer students than there are Freshmen.

In terms of writing I’ve done this week, it’s been mostly a lot of editing work for the pieces I got back on Monday. I spent a lot of time inserting more quotes, entire new interviews, and writing an introduction page for the blueprint article.
