Clarity is Coming

I've spent some time looking for job postings for a travel writer. There aren't many out there. But while I was looking I found quite a few postings for bloggers. I had an Aha! moment.

I've already been blogging about my cooking experiences. I've never done much cooking but the last couple of years I've been sensing a desire to learn. The movie Julie and Julia gave me the idea to blog about my cooking adventures. Julie was already a good cook, she blogged about trying Julia Child's recipes. I shared my blog with my family and have had a nice response. My niece asked me if I was going to post some more stories.

It is a good blend. I can blog from anywhere so I could blog and travel in retirement. The problem is that most of the blogging jobs I've found either are in a technical field or have specific topics they are looking for. The cooking blogs are for experts in certain cooking styles. But I have a plan.

My niche is my target audience. I am writing for people who have little experience with cooking, who lack confidence, and who are looking for moral support along with instruction. I know they are out there, because I was looking myself. I purchased a book that is a dictionary and a great source for explanations of what the terminology in the recipes means. My daughter gave me a cookbook that gives lots of extra information. I have learned knife skills. I am talking about flavor profiles. It's fun and I enjoy writing about it. I believe others will be encouraged by reading my blog.

My task will be to convince an employer my blog has a place in their lineup. It is possible. I have a blog set up and have named it Food Fraidies. I am motivated and energized just at the thought of proceeding. Writing can give you power.
