Busy Busy Busy!

So this week I have been feeling a bit overwhelmed...what's new really? Between my music, my "real" job, and Stone House...there's not a lot of breathing room. I have always been a busy person. I always seem to have way more on my plate than I probably should, but that is just how I have always functioned. So, I have always been pretty good with time management. This experience has taught me more about time management though.

We all put some things off to until the last minute. Sometimes it's because we don't feel like doing it, but most times it's because we just don;t have enough time to get everything done when we would like. That is usually the case with me. I am constantly wishing there were more hours in a day (and night, so I could sleep more). With Stone House, I have learned what I need to do right away, and what I can work on in my own time. At the studio I am usually trying to work on the things that are happening right in that moment. So, I will get the names of artists, what they are recording and doing with their music, and how they are doing it. This is so I can write a blog for Stone House that is as accurate as it can be. The design work I usually do on my own time and when the bands are doing the actual recording.

In the very beginning of this internship, I was having a rough time figuring out when to work on certain things. Since my schedule was never set, getting used to Stone House hours was a little hard, but I think I have finally found a nice balance. It's great when you feel like you start to fall in to place with something. There are still times when I feel overwhelmed, as I mentioned above, but in the back of my mind I know that I will be able to get it all done as long as I keep everything balanced.

So, as far as my internship this week, I have just been working on putting final touches on things and trying to get everything together. I think we've come up with the design we are happy with for the business cards. I've still got some finalizing I need to do on the brochure. That has proved to be one of the hardest things to do because there is so much involved with it (layout, pictures, text, colors). I don;t know if the brochure is something that Pete will end up using, but he is really interested in using my business card design, which I am pretty stoked about.

For now, I will spend the remainder of this week, and most of the next couple weeks, just finalizing designs and focusing on the blog for the Stone House page. I never did get to do as much stuff as I wanted to do with the website because there were parts of it that were still getting built, but I feel like I got some experience with more writing on the web using the Stone House FB site. So, I am pretty pleased with that.

I'm sure next week will prove to be super busy as well, but as long as I keep my balance with everything, I think I'll be alright. Hope you are all having stellar weeks!
